Craters of the Moon National Monument in central Idaho is often overlooked.  But for those who take the time to visit are delighted with a "weird and scenic landscape."  Visitors can expect to beautiful displays of wildflowers during the spring, scorching heat during the long summer months and a winter paradise when temperatures drop. Crater's violent past is highlighted with ten trails that weave through the volcanic wonderland. Hikers can expect incredible views of cinder cones, amazing caves and much more. Remember the black lava amplifies the heat. Make sure to have plenty of water and sunscreen with you, be prepared for extremely windy conditions and wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots.
