Congaree National Park Hiking Trail Guide

Congaree National Park Hiking Trail Guide

Congaree National Park offers tremendous hiking opportunities through the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest left in the southeastern United States. The majority of Congarees trails weave through the floodplain and consequently have little elevation change. But what they lack in difficulty they make up for with sheer beauty. Hikers can expect an array of wildlife, stands of incredible old growth, oxbow lakes or a stroll along the Congaree River through one of the most diverse ecosystems in the south.
