Hiking in Valley Forge National Historical Park is a walk through history. The site commemorates where George Washington and the Continental Army wintered in 1777-1778. As winter set in only one in three in Washington’s army had shoes and by the next February nearly 2,500 would die from malnutrition, disease and exposure.
