Activities & Features
The Union Peak Trail is a spur trail off the Pacific Crest Trail. This hike meanders through deep evergreen forests most of the way and then makes a steep climb to the summit. The payoff is big! The views from the summit are unrivaled! This hike is kid friendly, but is likely too long for young children. Crater Lake National Park has two established campgrounds. The larger is Mazama Campground, it has about 200 forested sites. For those looking for a more private camping experience, check out the Lost Creek Campground. It has 16 first come first serve sites.
Union Peak was named by the Nye party who were early explorers of the area and supporters of the Union during the Civil War.
