Three Rivers Petroglyph Trail is an easy hike Las Cruces New Mexico. The trail is kid friendly and showcases ancient rock art. The Three Rivers Petroglyph Site was set protected for the sole purpose of protecting ancient rock art. The BLM estimates the site contains more than 21,000 petroglyphs. This three-mile trail provides visitors with ample opportunity to see one of the largest concentrations in the Southwest. Many of the petroglyphs are more than a thousand years old. History

Most of the petroglyphs are from the Jornada Mogollon tribe, which inhabited the area 900 to 1400 AD. There are also some ruins of an ancient Mogollon village worth checking out as well.
