Telescope Peak Trail is a classic but tough hike in Death Valley. This hike is not the best for small kids. With more than 3000 feet of elevation gain, Telescope Peak Trail in Death Valley National Park is one tough hike! Telescope Peak, which is the highest peak in Death Valley, earned its name from the incredible views seen from the top on a clear day. Hikers that are tough enough to make it to the top will get to see this view, gnarled Bristlecone Pines, ample wildflowers and more. Winter attempts may require, crampons, ice axes and other specialized experience. There is camping available in Death Valley National Park.
