Sturtevant Falls Trail is moderate hike in the Angeles National Forest near L.A. leading to a stunning 50 ft. waterfall. This trail is kid and dog friendly. The hike to Sturtevant Falls starts at the Chantry Flat Picnic Area. This hike is a good introduction to hiking in the Angeles National Forest and is close to Los Angeles. The first part of the trail is quite steep. It's open year round, but if hiking in the summer, please remember to carry plenty of water. Also for the best view of the falls this hike is best done in the spring. There is camping available in the Angeles National Forest.
Sturtevant Falls after Civil War Veteran Wilbur M. Sturtevant, who moved to the San Gabriel Mountains and became a well known local mountaineer.
