Activities & Features

Snow Trillium Trail is an easy hike in Battle of Athens State Park in Missouri that features incredible history and scenery. This trail has orange blazes and is great for dogs, so long as Fido is on leash. The trail weaves through a mixed hardwood forest dominated by hickory, walnut and oak and in the spring small waterfalls cascade down rock walls. Camping is available in Battle of Athens.

The Battle of Athens took place on August 5th, 1861. The Union victory is the most northerly battle fought west of Mississippi. In addition to its Civil War history this trail travels through what was home to the Sac and Fox tribes in the early part of the 19th century.
