Sky Bear Valley Loop is a difficult hike in Point Reyes National Seashore near the San Francisco Bay area. This wonderful trail leads hikers through mixed Douglas fir forest, meadows and chaparral and features incredible coastal views and beach access. This hike starts at the Bear Valley Trailhead, at the south end of the Bear Valley Parking Lot. Nearly 490 different species have been spotted in and along the national seashore. For perspective, that’s more than 50 percent of species of birds in North America. So, don't forget to bring your binoculars. There is only backcountry camping available in Point Reyes, but there are plenty of other car friendly campground in the surrounding area.
