Sheep Pen Canyon Loop is a difficult hike in Davis Mountains State Park in Texas. This trail starts at the Sheep Pen Canyon trailhead. Hike 2.5 miles up until it connects with the Sheep Pen Loop Trail. Hikers can expect to wind through a mountain plateau through oak-juniper forests, high desert grasslands and some of the park’s most amazing views! There is backcountry camping available along this trail. This hike is dog friendly, but your furry friend must be on leash. Equestrians and mountain bikers are welcome on many trails in Davis Mountain State Park, confirm at the trailhead. For those looking of an extended stay there is camping available in Davis Mountain State Park. And make sure to check out nearby Fort Davis National Historic Site.
