The Rock Creek Shelter Trail is a wheelchair accessible hike leading to a 1,400 year-old hunting camp used by the Upper Skagit Peoples. A large boulder along side the Newhalem Creek shelters the historical camp. You can also take a short spur trail to an old growth cedar glade along the creek. If you are staying at the Newhalem Creek Campground use the Linking Trail to access the Rock Creek Shelter Trail and add about a mile to the hike. This hike is short, making it ideal for those traveling with the elderly or small children, but it is also beautiful and historic. There is plenty of camping in North Cascades National Park.
