Prairie Dog Town via the Buckhorn Trail is an easy kid friendly hike in Theodore Roosevelt National Park that is great for wildlife viewing. The park says this trail starts "at the Caprock Coulee Trailhead and follow the Buckhorn Trail to a prairie dog town. Be sure to plan some extra time for wildlife viewing; where there are prairie dogs, there are often lots of other animals, too." This hike is in the park's northern unit. There is camping available in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The Cottonwood Campground is in the TRNP south unit and the Juniper Campground is located in the north unit.
