White Sands

Playa Trail is a very easy kid friendly hike in White Sands National Monument near Las Cruces. The monument says "the Playa Trail is a short, level hike that leads to a small playa. Playas are shallow depressions or low-lying areas that temporarily fill with rainwater from storms and are a common feature of desert environments." Warning, if you are hiking in the summer time, make sure to carry plenty of water and protection from the sun.
