Pinelands trail is an easy hike in Cape Henlopen State Park near Dover Delaware. This two mile loop weaves through a coastal upland pine forest. Hikers will pass by four different species of pine trees, including loblolly, Virginia, pitch, and black, as well as cranberry bogs. The Pinelands Trail also has the distinction of being Delaware’s first National Recreation Trail, receiving the designation in 1981. This trail is dog friendly, but your pup must kept on leash.

History

Along the way hikers will also pass by military bunkers which housed heavy artillery during World War II.
