Petrified Logs Loop Trail in Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas takes hikers past millions of years of history in a few short miles. The park says " logs and stumps, washed into the area from an ancient forest about 225 million years ago, are exposed in two locations." There is camping in Valley of Fire State Park.
