Pawnee Buttes Trail takes you up close to a very unique geological feature in the northeast corner of Colorado. This hike takes you to both buttes. From March 1 - June 30th visitors are not permitted near the buttes because of nesting raptors. The buttes are composed of sedimentary rock, and crumble extremely easily, thus climbing highly discouraged. If hiking in the summertime, take plenty of water and sunscreen because it's going to be hot and exposed. This trail is great for families, dogs and equestrians.
