Oconaluftee River Trail is an easy kid friendly day hike or bike ride in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that the whole family is sure to enjoy. This trail starts at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center and is one of two trails in the park that is dog friendly, however your four-legged friend must be on leash. Mountain bikers are also permitted on this trail. Expect to see plenty of people on this trail, it is very popular. There is plenty of camping available in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

History

The Mountain Farm Museum is located at the trailhead. The area also features several other historic structures. A large Cherokee village used to be in the area of this trail.
