Observation Point via East Rim Trail is a difficult hike in Zion National Park that rewards hikers with truly breathtaking views of Zion Canyon. This trail has long drop offs and can be dangerous. It may not be the best choice for people with fears of heights or hikers with young children. The trail climbs through Echo Canyon to a spectacular view of Zion Canyon. It also provides access to Cable Mountain and Deertrap Mountain. There are three campgrounds in Zion National Park. The South and Watchman Campgrounds are located in Zion Canyon. The Lava Point Campground is roughly an hours drive from Zion Canyon on the Kolob Terrace Road.
