North Alabama Birding & Nature Trail is easy family friendly hike in Russell Cave National Monument in northern Alabama. This loop hike starts along the North Alabama Birding Trail and winds through the lush and colorful forest of Montague Mountain. Along the way hikers should watch for abundant songbirds such as blue jays and northern cardinals. There are at least 115 different bird species that call the monument home. After a little over a mile the trail connects to the 1.5 mile nature trail and loops back to the trail head. This hike is dog friendly, but you pup must be on leash.
