Mount Rainier

Mystic Lake Trail is a tough day hike or backpacking trip in Mount Rainier National Park that leads hikers through awe-inspiring mountain scenery. The park says "this trail offers hikers a close-up look at the terminus of the Carbon Glacier, the lowest elevation glacier in the contiguous 48 states. From Moraine Park the views of Mount Rainier's precipitous north side are spectacular! Marmots, pikas, and wildflowers abound in Moraine Park. The calm waters of Mystic Lake capture picture-perfect reflections of Mount Rainier, particularly in the evening and early morning." Backcountry camping is available at these site: Ipsut Creek, Carbon River, Dick Creek, Mystic Lake. Mount Rainier has plenty of camping available. Cougar Rock Campground is located in the southwest section of the park, Ohanapecosh Campground is in the southeast, White River is in the northeast section and Mowich Lake is a small tent only campground in the northwest section of Mount Rainier.
