Mountain Springs Trail is a moderate hiking trail in Ricketts Glen State Park near Scranton, Pennsylvania. This trail is kid friendly and dog friendly, but your furry kids have to be on leash. The park says "heading off of the beaten path, this trail takes hikers on a 4-mile hike past the old Lake Leigh Dam and down the south branch of Bowmans Creek to the former Mountain Springs Lake, which is now a dry lakebed. Hikers can connect to Cherry Run Trail by walking 3.5 miles on Mountain Springs Road." Ricketts Glen State Park makes a great snowshoeing and cross country skiing destination in the winter. There is camping available in Ricketts Glen State Park.
