Mines of Spain Hike is a difficult hike in the recreation area near Dubuque, Iowa that traverse the entire park. This hike combines most of the trails in the park. Start at the Catfish Trailhead, or you can start in the southern portion. For those looking for a shorter hike, you can also take two cars and make it a point to point hike. Along the way hikers will pass by Indian Mounts, 200 plus year old oak trees and through a variety of habitats. This trail is dog friendly, but your pup must be kept on leash. Also, make sure to watch out for poison ivy and if you are hiking in the summer you are going to want to make sure you have bug spray, mosquitos can be relentless. A heads up, Mines of Spain does NOT have a campground. The
