Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are a great kid friendly hike in Death Valley National Park. There is no trail, just sweeping sand dunes surrounded by soaring mountain peaks. The Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park are a great place to get a little bit of short cross country travel done. Again, there is no official trail to the dunes so hikers can make their trek as strenuous as they like. It's about 2 miles to the highest dune, there are plenty of others to explore. For aspiring photographers the dunes are best lit at sunrise and sunset. Make sure to take plenty of water as well especially if visiting during the summer! There is camping available in Death Valley National Park.
