The trail to Lost Lake from Petrified Tree in Yellowstone's northern section is a short yet wonderful hike! The trail is flat and short, making it perfect for those hikers with small children. The hike starts at Petrified Tree which is a millions of years old redwood. The trail meanders through grassy meadows bursting with wildflowers and ends at Lost Lake. The shallow lake is often lit up by yellow pond lilies. For those that want a longer hike, continue on to Roosevelt Lodge. Black Bears are common in the area so please follow all NPS guidelines for hiking in bear country! There is camping throughout Yellowstone National Park.
