Little River and Cucumber Gap Loop Trail is a moderate kid friendly day hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that offers wonderful scenery. This is at its best during the spring when vibrant displays of wildflowers bloom along the trail. Along the way watch for River Otters, the National Park Service wildlife biologists successfully reintroduced the species to the park more than 25 years ago. A couple of miles up the trail hikers are reach the beautiful Huskey Branch Falls which cascades along the Little River. About a quarter mile further hikers reach a trail junction with the Cucumber Gap Trail. Follow the Cucumber Gap Trail back to the trailhead to complete the loop. There is plenty of camping available in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

History

This area was heavily logged up until the smokies became a National Park. This trail follows an old railroad bed built by the Little River Lumber Company.
