Laurel Falls Trail is an easy kid friendly day hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that features a magnificent waterfall. The park says "Laurel Branch and the 80-foot high Laurel Falls are named for mountain laurel, an evergreen shrub which blooms along the trail and near the falls in May. The waterfall consists of an upper and a lower section, divided by a walkway which crosses the stream at the base of the upper falls. " Just a heads up, this is one of the most popular trails in an incredibly popular National Park. If solitude is what you seek, look elsewhere. This trail is a great choice for hikers with small kids, however make sure to get to the parking area early! There is plenty of camping available in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
