Johnson Moraine Trail is an easy hiking trail in Devil's Lake State Park near Madison Wisconsin. This trail is apart of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and features gentle grades as it follows atop a terminal moraine near glacial “kettles” and some marshy areas. Make sure to keep any eye peeled for wildlife along the way. This trail is dog friendly, so long as your furry friend is on leash. Many of the parks trails can be combined to form longer hikes. There is camping available in Devil's Lake State Park and the park is also a great choice for winter outdoor recreation such as snowshoeing.

History

Devil's Lake State park was founded in 1911 and is Wisconsin's most visited and third oldest state park.
