Hawaii Volcanoes

Halema'uma'u Trail in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park goes from a lush rainforest into the heart of one of the world's most active volcanoes. This hike starts at the Crater Rim Trail behind the Volcano House. A heads up the Halema‘uma‘u Trail across the caldera floor is closed beyond stop 10 due to the active eruptive vent in Halema‘uma‘u Crater and be careful concentrated SO2 and sulphur fumes from the crater can be dangerous for those people with heart or respiratory concerns. Hawaii Volcanoes has two campgrounds, the Namakanipaio and the Kulanaokuaiki.
