Fossil Trail is an easy family friendly hike in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area that gives hikers an archeology lesson. This hike is located in the middle section of the park. Along the way hikers will pass through seasonal wetlands that are critical for amphibians then drop into a ravine dominated by towering hardwoods. Next hikers cross a small stream where they will come to a rock ledge that contains fossils of marine organisms found in this area hundreds of millions of years ago. Remember leave no trace, fossil collecting is strictly prohibited. This trail is dog friendly, but your pup must be on leash. There are campgrounds nearby.
