The hike to Emerald Lake begins at the Bear Lake Trailhead. Hikers will pass several beautiful lakes along the way including Bear Lake and Dream Lake. The trail climbs a little more than 600 ft. in less than two miles as it goes deeper into the Tyndall Gorge. Once you hikers arrive at Emerald Lake they are greeted with incredible alpine scenery. At 12,713 ft. Hallett Peak rules the skyline directly above the lake. Nearby, Jagged Flattop Mountain soars to the sky and water supplied by the Tyndall Glacier feeds the crystal clean lake. There is plenty of camping available in Rocky Mountain National Park.
