The Eco Pond Trail is near the Flamingo Visitor Center. This trail is great for those hiking with young children and is wonderful for bird watchers. The park says "stroll around this freshwater pond and enjoy a wide variety of wading birds, songbirds, ducks, and other wildlife. Alligators and Florida softshell turtles often cruise the pond. Visitors should know that the ramped viewing platform was heavily damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma in 2005 and has been removed." There is camping available in Everglades National Park. The Long Pine Key Campground and the Flamingo Campground can accommodate both tents and RV's.
