Activities & Features

Notes

Dune Life Nature Trail is a very easy kid friendly hike in White Sands National Monument near Las Cruces. The monument says "meet Katy the Kit Fox on this family oriented trail and learn about the plants and animals common to the dunes. Though not difficult, this hike does require hikers to climb two steep dunes and is located along the edge of the dune field where the landscape is heavily vegetated." Warning, if you are hiking in the summer time, make sure to carry plenty of water and protection from the sun.

History

President Herbert Hoover established White Sands National Monument in 1933.
