Drake's Head via Estero Trail is a difficult hike in Point Reyes National Seashore near the San Francisco Bay area. Along this trail hikers can expect amazing views of Drakes and Limantour Esteros. This hike starts at the Estero Trailhead, which is located a short distance off of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. on the way to the Lighthouse. Nearly 490 different species have been spotted in and along the national seashore. For perspective, that’s more than 50 percent of species of birds in North America. So, don't forget to bring your binoculars. There is only backcountry camping available in Point Reyes, but there are plenty of other car friendly campground in the surrounding area.
