Crater Lake Trail is an easy family friendly hike in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This hike is located in the middle section of the park. Rangers say "Crater Lake is glacial lake left behind after the Wisconsin Glacier retreated from this area about twenty-two thousand years ago.” Today, hikers can expect a beautiful outdoors experience, bursting with wildflowers, songbirds and other wildlife. For those seeking a longer adventure, the hike can be extended by hiking to Hemlock Pond, Blue Mountain Lake or along the Appalachian Trail. This trail is dog friendly, but your pup must be on leash. There are campgrounds nearby.
