Cornell Mine Trail is a moderate hiking trail in Bear Mountain State Park near New York City. This trail has blue blazes and meanders from Hessian Lake to Bald Mountain near the old Cornell Mine. Keep an eye peeled for wildlife including abundant songbirds and game such as white-tailed deer. Bear Mountain also makes a great choice for winter recreation, its trails offer wonderful cross country skiing and snowshoeing. History

During the American Revolution the area that would become Bear Mountain State Park saw several battles and skirmishes. The British viewed controlling the Hudson River as pivotal to their success.
