River Trail is an easy hike in Cook Forest State Park near Erie, Pennsylvania. This trail is kid friendly and dog friendly, but your furry kids have to be on leash. The park says "this steep trail starts at the Fire Tower and ends on Fire Tower Road. It may be steep, but is one of the most beautiful trails to hike in early summer when the mountain laurel and great rhododendron are in bloom. It also has a long flat section that runs parallel to the Clarion River. Keep your eyes open for soft-shelled turtles, coyote, bobcat and black bear." There is camping available in Cook Forest State Park.
