Coal Vein Trail is a very easy kid friendly hike in Theodore Roosevelt National Park that offers beautiful vistas. The park says "although this coal vein is no longer burning, this nature trail is an excellent place to learn about badlands geology and ecology. Take along a trail brochure, available at the trailhead. This trail has stairs." This hike is in the park's southern unit. There is camping available in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The Cottonwood Campground is in the TRNP south unit and the Juniper Campground is located in the north unit.
