Cinder Cone Trail is a moderate kid friendly hike in Lassen Volcanic National Park that rewards hikers with spectacular views. The park says this "path of loose cinders skirts Fantastic Lava Beds and the Painted Dunes before climbing steeply to the summit. The trail continues into the summit crater and offers spectacular views of Lassen and the eastern park." The trailhead is located in the Butte Lake parking area. There is camping available in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
