The Upper Canyon Trail is a difficult hiking trail in Caprock Canyons State Park near Amarillo, Texas. This hike is kid friendly and dog friendly, but your furry kids have to be on leash. However, it may be a bit long for hikers with small children. This trail leads hikers to fern cave and along the way you can expect some stunning scenery like beautiful hoodoos including "The Last Dance." In 2011, 80 descendants of the great southern plains bison herd were released to roam 700 acres of grasslands in the park. There is camping available in Caprock Canyon State Park.
