Activities & Features

Camelback Mountain is a tough climb in the city of Phoenix. It's the highest point in the city and can be reached by two trails. The Cholla Trail offers a little easier and longer climb with sweeping views of the city. While the Echo Canyon Trail is a shorter and steeper way to the 2,704-foot summit of Camelback Mountain. Either trail is worth the climb and provides hikers with dramatic views of the city. That said, this trail is popular and is not the best choice if you seek solitude. If you enjoy rock climbing make sure to bring your shoes and give the Praying Monk formation a try along the way. Lastly, be sure to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes.
