The Beaver Slide Trail is an easy hiking trail in Big Thicket National Preserve near Houston, Texas. This hike is kid friendly and dog friendly, but your furry kids have to be on leash. Keep eye peeled for wildlife along this loop! Especially beavers! The preserve says "the Beaver Slide Trail makes a loop of 1.5 miles near Big Sandy Creek. It is heavily wooded and is an excellent short hike on which to see cypress trees." Make sure to stop in at the visitor center before heading out on any hike in Big Thicket. There are no developed campgrounds in Big Thicket National Preserve, but backcountry camping is available for hikers looking to get off the beaten path.
