Andrews Bald is a moderate kid friendly day hike in Great Smoky Mountains that rewards hikers with panoramic views from the top. Follow the Forney Ridge Trail to get to the bald. This hike is great for wildflowers as well, keep an eye peeled for Flame Azalea which is common on the bald. This hike is also extremely popular, plan on arriving at the parking area before sunrise to ensure you have a spot. There is plenty of camping available in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

History

Andrews Bald is named after Andres Thompson, who herded livestock on the bald in the 1840s.
