Alcove Springs Trail is a difficult hike in Canyonlands National Park near Moab that offers splendid scenery. This trail drops in elevation pretty quickly out of the gate, but not as steeply as other trails in the Island in the Sky district. A good rule of thumb in arid Canyonlands is where there is water… there is wildlife. This hike is a great choice for hikers looking see wildlife. Keep an eye peeled for mule deer, coyote and other desert animals. This hike is located in the park's Island in the Sky District. Canyonlands National Park has two campgrounds, Squaw Flat Campground in The Needles District and Willow Flat Campground in the Island in the Sky District.
