Alcove Nature Trail in Colorado National Monument is an easy kid friendly hike that offers hikers an understanding of the Monuments biodiversity. The monument says this hike follows a "level trail that travels to an alcove in a box canyon. Detailed trail guides are available at the trailhead and the visitor center. A good introduction to some of the plants, animals, and rocks of the monument. Great for families with small children." There is camping available at the Saddlehorn Campground which is located near the Visitor Center, about four miles from the west entrance.
