Achenbach Trail is a tough hike in Theodore Roosevelt National Park that is the perfect choice for hikers looking for solitude. The park says this trail has "steep climbs and descents and two river crossings await you on a trail that leads deep into the heart of the Theodore Roosevelt Wilderness. Cross the Little Missouri River at daybreak and climb the buttes to greet the rising sun." This hike is in the park's northern unit. There is camping available in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The Cottonwood Campground is in the TRNP south unit and the Juniper Campground is located in the north unit.
