WEBSTER, Mass. - Take a good look at the picture above. Is it a domestic cat? No. Is it a bobcat? No. Is it a Mountain Lion? Quite possibly.

A resident of the small town of Webster, Massachusetts took these pictures from her window. She then shared them with Animal Control Officer Michelle Lefleche, who posted them to Facebook with the message:

“No need to panic but just thought we'd alert the public that a mountain lion has been photographed in the area of Ash Street in Webster, MA…  As always, if you leave wildlife alone and respect it, the wildlife will reciprocate. As always, you should be diligent and cautious with your pets. Apparently, we are going to have to adjust to living with more than just bears now. Welcome to Massachusetts!”

The Worcester Telegram reports the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife is aware of the sighting but is referring people to a document which chronicles the history of mountain lion sightings in Massachusetts. The document states that mountain lions sightings in Massachusetts are cases of mistaken identity, with the animals in question turning out to be bobcats, coyotes and even domestic cats.

What do you think? The picture may not be the clearest, but it’s most certainly not a domestic cat.
